Designed to facilitate controlled suture passage in confined or deep operative fields, this hinged-eye needle is commonly used where direct threading is difficult or where single-handed needle capture and release improves workflow. Typical procedures include soft-tissue approximation in hand, plastic/reconstructive, ENT, and certain orthopedic or tendon repairs where precise placement and limited needle manipulation reduce tissue trauma.
Design & Configuration
The hinged (releasable) eye permits the operator to open the needle eye to accept suture and then close and lock it for passage through tissue, eliminating the need to thread the suture through a fixed eye. The 19 cm shaft provides extended reach for deeper pockets or tunnels while retaining tactile feedback. The Fig.3 curvature delivers a defined arc to negotiate angles in tight spaces and to orient the needle point for controlled entry and exit trajectories.
