Clinical Application
This instrument is designed to facilitate precise suture placement where controlled loading and unloading of the suture is required. The Reverdin open-eye mechanism allows the operator to engage and release suture material without threading the eye in the conventional manner, reducing needle handling and streamlining stitch placement in confined or deep wounds. It is commonly used for delicate soft-tissue approximation, layered closures, and situations where limited access or narrow working corridors make conventional needle handling difficult.
Design & Configuration
The open-eye (Reverdin) configuration delivers predictable, atraumatic suture capture: the small, precisely machined eye opens to accept the suture and then closes securely for passage through tissue. At 19 cm overall length the shaft provides extended reach and improved control for deep or narrow operative sites while maintaining tactile feedback. The Fig.1 pattern denotes the standard Reverdin geometry with a slim working profile to minimize tissue displacement during needle passage and loading.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Reverdin needle (open-eye needle)
- Pattern / model: Fig.1
- Length: 19 cm
- Tip: Reverdin openable eye for suture capture
- Typical use: Controlled suture placement in confined or deep soft-tissue closures
- Material: Stainless steel; reusable construction
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability and repeated reprocessing. The open-eye tip is precision-machined to provide reliable operation without excessive bulk, preserving needle passage characteristics and limiting tissue trauma. The instrument is designed for reuse and standard sterilization protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
