Clinical Application
Designed for precise manipulation of fine surgical needles during delicate soft-tissue work. The curved Castroviejo geometry and short, fine jaws make this holder well suited to ophthalmic procedures (corneal, eyelid and conjunctival suturing), reconstructive and plastic microsurgery, and other cases that demand controlled, tactile needle placement with minimal tissue disturbance.
Design & Configuration
The curved (cvd) working end permits angled access to confined or shallow operative fields without excessive hand contortion, improving sightline and approach for micro-suturing. A built-in catch (locking mechanism) secures the needle between bites and allows the surgeon to maintain consistent tension without continuous grip force, which helps reduce hand fatigue during repetitive suturing. The short, fine jaws provide close needle purchase to the suture swage for predictable needle rotation and passage.
