Clinical Application
This broad-blade Rochard abdominal retractor is intended to provide atraumatic exposure of the abdominal wall and intra-abdominal contents during open procedures. The large 100 x 155 mm blade surfaces distribute retraction forces over a wide area to minimize focal pressure on soft tissues. The 31 cm overall length allows the instrument to reach deeper cavities and maintain exposure in abdominal, pelvic, colorectal, gynecologic and urologic operations where prolonged, controlled retraction is required.
Design & Configuration
The Rochard pattern features broad, slightly concave blades that cradle viscera and retract the abdominal wall without sharp edges or teeth, reducing the risk of tissue trauma. The geometry of the blades provides a wide visual field and stable tissue control for the assistant or primary operator. The 31 cm shaft provides sufficient reach for deep cavities while maintaining ergonomic control for single-handed operation during exposure and wound management.
