Clinical Application
Designed to provide broad, atraumatic exposure of the abdominal wall and superficial viscera during open laparotomy and other abdominal procedures. The wide blade footprint distributes pressure across soft tissue, reducing focal stress while allowing the assistant to maintain steady retraction for improved visualization during bowel work, gynecologic surgery, urologic cases, and exploratory laparotomies.
Design & Configuration
The handheld, non-self-retaining configuration allows the assistant or surgeon to dynamically adjust retraction angle and tension to match intraoperative needs. The relatively long shaft (31 cm) facilitates retraction in deeper cavities and larger patients, while the broad blade (100 x 105 mm) increases exposure area with less point pressure on tissue. This geometry supports controlled, targeted retraction without the complexity of self-retaining systems when intermittent or adjustable retraction is preferred.
