Clinical Application
This handheld Plester-style retractor is intended to provide precise, localized retraction of soft tissue in confined or shallow operative fields. Its 1x2 prong tip and left orientation are useful for exposing incision lines and operative planes during oral and maxillofacial procedures, ENT work, plastic and reconstructive cases, and minor soft-tissue surgery. The design facilitates controlled exposure for sharp or blunt dissection, suturing, irrigation, and hemostasis while minimizing obstruction of the surgical field.
Design & Configuration
The 1x2 prong arrangement offers limited, targeted tissue engagement—one prong opposing two—to stabilize and evert soft tissue without excessive trauma. The specified left orientation positions the prongs to retract toward the patient’s left side, allowing predictable tissue displacement for left-sided approaches or when the assistant or surgeon needs a leftward retraction vector. At 11 cm overall length the instrument balances reach and maneuverability for shallow to moderate depth exposures in small operative sites.
