Clinical Application
This self-retaining Gelpi-style retractor provides focused lateral exposure for small incisions and confined operative fields. It is commonly used to hold wound edges apart and maintain soft-tissue retraction during procedures where a stable, hands-free hold is required, such as minor general, plastic, and orthopaedic soft-tissue exposures. Its point-style tips deliver precise retraction of indurated or well-supported tissue; it is not intended for atraumatic retraction of extremely friable tissues.
Design & Configuration
The instrument's bilateral single-pointed arms spread apart to produce consistent lateral tension while minimizing bulk in the operative field. The Loktite stop provides a secure, adjustable lock at the chosen spread, eliminating the need for continuous manual tension and reducing assistant requirements. The slender profile and narrow tips improve visibility and access in small or deep wounds, and the simple locking mechanism allows rapid application and release.
