Clinical Application
This retractor is designed to provide reliable soft-tissue exposure in gynecologic, pelvic and perineal procedures where midline access and bilateral retraction are required. The central blade is used to separate and stabilize the midline tissue while the lateral elements maintain edge retraction and visualization, making it useful for vaginal repairs, anterior/posterior colporrhaphy, perineal dissections and other procedures that demand controlled central exposure.
Design & Configuration
The central midline blade projects between tissue planes to create a stable working channel while the lateral surfaces hold wound edges apart. This geometry enables direct visualization of the operative field and controlled displacement of soft tissue without excessive circumferential pressure. A hand-held configuration gives the surgeon tactile control over retraction depth and angle, facilitating incremental adjustments during dissection or suturing and reducing the need for multiple assistants.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Retractor with central midline blade
- Pattern / model: Collin / Pozzi
- Configuration: Hand-held; central blade plus lateral retraction surfaces
- Typical surgical use: Gynecologic, pelvic and perineal exposure
