Clinical Application
Medial blade for a Caspar spinal retractor system designed to provide central retraction and exposure of the anterior cervical spine. Commonly used during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and other anterior cervical approaches to maintain disc space distraction, stabilize vertebral bodies and create a working corridor for microsurgical or fusion procedures. The medial orientation centers retraction force and facilitates symmetrical exposure of the operative level.
Design & Configuration
The 60 x 23 mm medial blade provides a compact, low-profile contact surface sized to engage the midline aspect of the vertebral bodies or intervertebral disc space while minimizing bulk that can obstruct visualization and instrument access. The medial (central) geometry directs retraction force evenly along the midline, improving stability of the retractor assembly and reducing focal soft-tissue pressure compared with narrower points of contact. Blade dimensions and profile are intended to work with Caspar-style frames that accept removable medial blades.
