Clinical Application
This medial retractor blade is designed for use with Caspar-style anterior cervical retractor systems to provide controlled medial retraction during anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and other anterior cervical procedures. The narrow footprint permits focused medial displacement of soft tissues and the longus colli, improving visualization of the intervertebral disc space and vertebral endplates while minimizing bulk in the confined cervical corridor.
Design & Configuration
The blade's medial orientation and compact 55x20mm profile reduce soft-tissue compression and allow precise placement adjacent to the midline structures. Its geometry is intended to present a low-profile retraction surface in a limited operative field, facilitating instrument access and anterior plating without excessive obstruction. The blade is configured to interface with Caspar-style retractor arms so it can be positioned and secured for stable, sustained retraction throughout the procedure.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Medial retractor blade for anterior cervical exposure
- Pattern / model: Caspar retractor — medial blade
