Clinical Application
Provides focused lateral retraction during anterior cervical spine procedures to maintain exposure of vertebral bodies and disc spaces. Commonly used in conjunction with Caspar cervical retractor systems for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and other anterior cervical exposures. The blade’s lateral orientation allows predictable displacement of soft tissues while protecting deeper neural and vascular structures when positioned and tensioned by the retractor frame.
Design & Configuration
The flat, laterally oriented geometry offers a broad contact surface to distribute retraction forces across soft tissue, reducing point pressure and helping preserve tissue integrity. The 75 x 23 mm footprint balances reach and width so the blade can span the working corridor while providing stable retraction. Blade edges are shaped to seat securely against tissues and to interface with the Caspar retractor mounting system for stable fixation during distraction and exposure.
