Clinical Application
This medial blade is designed for use with a Caspar spinal retractor system to facilitate anterior cervical exposures. The blade provides controlled medial retraction of soft tissues and prevertebral structures during anterior cervical discectomy, fusion, and other anterior cervical procedures, helping maintain a stable operative corridor to the disc space and vertebral bodies while minimizing focal pressure on adjacent tissues.
Design & Configuration
The medial orientation and rectangular footprint concentrate contact over a defined area (55 x 24 mm) to distribute retraction forces and reduce tissue necrosis risk. A low-profile, contoured face improves visualization of the operative field and allows parallel placement alongside lateral blades. The shape and dimensions are optimized to seat securely in the Caspar retractor frame and to permit fine adjustment of medial retraction depth and direction without interfering with instrumentation at the disc level.
