Clinical Application
This medial blade is intended for use with a Caspar cervical retractor system to provide consistent medial retraction of soft tissues during anterior cervical exposures. It is used to maintain working space and visualization of the anterior cervical spine for procedures such as anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), corpectomy, and other anterior cervical approaches. The blade's surface area and orientation are selected to distribute retraction forces and help protect adjacent soft tissues while providing direct exposure of vertebral bodies and disc spaces.
Design & Configuration
The paddle-style medial configuration directs retraction medially from the retractor frame to create a stable field of view along the midline of the cervical spine. The 40x24 mm footprint balances exposure with soft-tissue protection: a larger face increases visibility of the operative level, while the rectangular profile is intended to seat securely within the retractor housing and resist rotation under tension. Medial blades are shaped to align with the central operative corridor and to work in tandem with lateral blades to maintain symmetrical exposure.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument: Medial blade for Caspar retractor
- Size: 40x24 mm
- Configuration: Paddle-style medial blade
- Typical use: Anterior cervical spine retraction (ACDF and related anterior cervical procedures)
- Material: Titanium (TiT)
- Reusable design suitable for repeated sterilization
Material & Construction
The TiT designation indicates construction from a titanium alloy, chosen for a combination of rigidity and reduced weight compared with heavier alloys. Titanium construction helps reduce instrument weight during prolonged cases and provides strong, corrosion-resistant performance appropriate for repeated sterilization cycles. The blade is manufactured as a reusable surgical instrument intended for routine decontamination and sterilization in accordance with facility protocols.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
