Clinical Application
Curved Thorek operating scissors are intended for controlled cutting and trimming of soft tissue and suture material in open surgical procedures. The 19 cm length provides reach for deeper operative fields while maintaining tactile control for precision work in general, vascular, and many specialty procedures where a curved cutting edge improves access.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry directs the cutting blades around anatomic contours and permits a more parallel approach to tissue planes compared with straight scissors. This configuration improves visibility of the tip in confined spaces and allows the surgeon to cut along curved surfaces or beneath tissue without excessive retraction. The Thorek pattern is a conventional operating-scissor form used when a balance of cutting accuracy and controlled dissection is required.
