Clinical Application

This blunt Myles curette is intended for controlled, atraumatic removal of soft tissue from the uterine cavity and cervix. It is commonly used during diagnostic and therapeutic dilation and curettage (D&C), endometrial sampling for pathology, evacuation of retained products of conception, and postpartum uterine debridement when a blunt instrument is preferred to minimize the risk of perforation. The blunt working edge allows the operator to apply sweeping, tactile scraping motions to collect tissue while reducing focal pressure on the uterine wall.

The curette features a ring/loop-style blunt head that distributes contact forces across a broader surface compared with sharp curettes, which lowers the likelihood of inadvertent penetration. The 17 cm shaft length provides adequate reach for routine adult gynecologic procedures while maintaining control and tactile feedback.
