Clinical Application

This adenotome is intended for controlled excision and removal of adenoidal tissue during adenoidectomy procedures. The instrument's geometry and length permit transoral access to the nasopharynx for curettage or cutting of hypertrophic adenoids, commonly used in pediatric and select adult ENT cases. It is used with direct visualization (headlight or laryngoscope) or endoscopic guidance and can be paired with suction to clear blood and tissue debris during removal.

Design & Configuration

The Fig.3 profile provides a scooped, angled working end that improves reach and conformity to the posterior nasopharyngeal vault. The perforated blade reduces surface contact area and helps limit tissue adhesion to the cutting surface, promoting cleaner excision and easier release of specimens. At 25 cm overall length, the shaft gives the working length required to access the adenoidal bed from a transoral approach while allowing the operator to maintain ergonomic control.
