Clinical Application

Designed for controlled elevation of periosteum and mucoperiosteal tissue, this Joseph-pattern periosteal elevator is used to separate soft tissue from bone, create subperiosteal planes, and undermine soft tissue during procedures such as rhinoplasty, septoplasty, oral and maxillofacial surgery, minor orthopedic dissections, and other soft-tissue exposures. The pair of spatula tips allow the surgeon to switch between a narrower profile for confined anatomy and a broader surface for wider dissection without changing instruments.

Design & Configuration

The double-ended spatula configuration provides two complementary profiles: a slender tip for precise access in tight or curved anatomy and a broader tip for atraumatic elevation of larger periosteal flaps. The straight 16 cm length offers reach into deeper operative fields while maintaining tactile control for fine dissection. The flat spatula surfaces permit controlled levering and sweeping motions to separate periosteum cleanly from underlying bone.
