Clinical Application
Designed for controlled tissue separation and periosteal or submucosal elevation, this double-ended Freer instrument supports both sharp and blunt dissection techniques. The sharp end is used for initial cleavage of fibrous attachments and precise delineation of tissue planes; the blunt end is used to elevate mucoperichondrial or periosteal flaps atraumatically. Common indications include rhinoplasty, septoplasty, nasal and sinus procedures, and general ENT or facial surgical tasks requiring delicate elevation and plane development.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended sharp/blunt configuration provides intraoperative flexibility without instrument change: the sharp tip enables controlled incision and release of dense adhesions while the blunt tip permits smooth, tension-distributing elevation of soft tissue off bone or cartilage. The 20.5 cm shaft length offers sufficient working reach for intra-nasal and deeper facial exposure while maintaining tactile feedback and control for delicate dissections.
Instrument Specifications
- Freer-style separator and elevator, double-ended
- Sharp point for precise cleavage and blunt rounded end for atraumatic elevation
- Overall length: 20.5 cm
- Intended uses: subperiosteal elevation, mucoperichondrial flap development, septal and nasal soft-tissue dissection
- Reusable surgical instrument suitable for standard sterilization processes
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability, corrosion resistance, and repeated autoclave sterilization. Constructed to provide a smooth shaft and reliably finished working ends to preserve soft-tissue integrity during elevation. Reusable design supports central sterilization workflows in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
