Clinical Application

Provides a firm, secure grip on dense soft tissues during dissections, retraction and suturing. The instrument is intended for use where strong purchase is required on fascia, muscle and subcutaneous tissue — for example wound closure, deep tissue retraction, and handling tissue during general, gynecologic and orthopedic procedures. Not intended for atraumatic handling of delicate structures such as bowel serosa or vascular intima.

Design & Configuration

The upward angulation positions the jaws for improved access and line-of-sight in deep or confined operative fields, allowing the shaft to clear overlying tissues or retractors while the tip engages the target tissue. The 4x10 mm jaw profile offers a broad contact area for distributing holding force across dense tissue, reducing slippage during tension and suture placement. The Ferris-Smith-style jaw geometry is designed to provide aggressive purchase when secure control is required.
