Clinical Application
This curette is designed for mechanical removal of adenoidal tissue during adenoidectomy procedures. The instrument is used in transoral approaches to scrape and core residual lymphoid tissue from the nasopharynx and choanal region, often in conjunction with suction or endoscopic visualization. Its dimensions provide reach and a tissue‑engaging head suitable for controlled bulk removal and contouring of adenoid beds.
Design & Configuration
The Figure 4 configuration yields an angled shaft and a scooped curette head that improves access to the posterior nasopharynx while allowing the surgeon to maintain a comfortable hand position at reasonable working distance. The 20 mm head balances tissue purchase with maneuverability in the limited space of the oropharynx; the 22 cm overall length provides adequate reach for pediatric and adult cases without excessive shaft length that can impede control.
