Clinical Application
Designed for mechanical removal of adenoid tissue via a transoral approach, this curette provides controlled scooping and sharp curettage of hypertrophic nasopharyngeal tissue during adenoidectomy. The 23 mm working end offers sufficient surface area to efficiently core or shave tissue while allowing the surgeon to gauge depth and preserve adjacent structures. It is suitable for use in pediatric and adult otolaryngology procedures where precise manual tissue removal is required, and can be used adjunctively with suction and visualization tools.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s 22 cm shaft provides reach into the nasopharynx while maintaining tactile control at the handle. The 23 mm curette (working end) is sized to balance tissue capture and maneuverability in the posterior nasal space; this allows the operator to remove bulky adenoids in larger sections or perform more controlled shaving for contouring. The Fig. 6 Beckmann pattern denotes a standardized curette geometry familiar to ENT surgeons, facilitating predictable handling and hand positioning during transoral access.
