Clinical Application
This two-prong blunt retractor is designed to provide atraumatic anterior retraction of the trachea and surrounding soft tissues to improve exposure during tracheostomy, open airway procedures, thyroidectomy, and select cervical operations. The blunt prongs allow the surgeon to mobilize or hold the trachea and adjacent structures while minimizing focal tissue injury, facilitating safe dissection and placement of tubes or cannulae.
Design & Configuration
The instrument’s two-prong (bifurcated) configuration delivers stable, centered retraction of tubular structures such as the trachea. Blunt tips distribute contact forces across a broader surface to reduce mucosal and soft-tissue trauma compared with sharp hooks. The 16 cm overall length provides sufficient reach for exposure in the anterior neck while remaining maneuverable for close control in confined operative fields.
