Clinical Application
Designed to provide broad, atraumatic exposure of deep wounds and cavities, this Mikulicz-style retractor is used to maintain soft-tissue retraction during abdominal and general surgical procedures. The relatively long shaft and wide blade surface allow surgeons and assistants to retract abdominal wall, mesentery, and other soft tissues to optimize visibility and access to operative targets while minimizing focal pressure on tissues.
Design & Configuration
The straight 26 cm shaft positions a 150 x 50 mm blade within deeper operative sites where a longer reach and wider contact area are required. The integrated light carrier permits placement of an illumination source close to the wound, reducing shadowing on the surgical field and improving visualization of anatomy without repositioning the primary light. The blade’s broad footprint distributes retraction forces, which helps protect tissue edges during sustained exposure.
Instrument Specifications
- Pattern: Mikulicz retractor with light carrier
- Overall length: 26 cm
- Blade dimensions: 150 x 50 mm
- Configuration: fixed shaft with integrated light carrier
- Typical use: deep soft-tissue retraction in abdominal and general surgery
Material & Construction
Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance and repeated sterilization cycles. The instrument is reusable and finished to a surgical polish to facilitate cleaning and reduce tissue adhesion. An integrated light carrier secures a light source adjacent to the blade to enhance field illumination.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
