Clinical Application
This two-prong sharp Kocher retractor is intended to provide secure, manual retraction and exposure of tough, fibrous tissues such as fascia, tendon sheath, muscle edges and deep wound margins. The sharp prongs are designed to engage tissue and resist slippage, making the instrument useful during abdominal wall, orthopedic, and other soft-tissue procedures where firm, focal retraction is required. Because the tips are sharp, it is not recommended for fragile or highly vascularized tissues where atraumatic handling is required.
Design & Configuration
The two-point, sharp-prong configuration concentrates contact force at the tips to penetrate and hold dense tissue securely, reducing the need for repeated repositioning. A 22 cm overall length provides extended reach into deeper wounds while maintaining tactile control for the assistant or primary operator. The simple, handheld geometry allows rapid placement and repositioning without the bulk of self-retaining systems; it is intended for active retraction rather than passive retention.
