Clinical Application
Designed to provide broad, stable exposure of the thoracic cavity during open chest procedures. The wide 115 x 65 mm blade distributes retraction forces across a larger surface area to minimize focal pressure on ribs, pleura and lung tissue. Common uses include thoracotomy exposure for pulmonary resections, decortication, esophageal access and other procedures requiring sustained chest wall retraction.
Design & Configuration
The relatively large blade footprint and 24 cm overall length offer reach into the thoracic inlet and across adult chest cavities while maintaining control of soft tissues. A broad, flat blade geometry helps stabilize the chest wall and underlying lung with reduced pinching, allowing assistants or an external retractor arm to maintain consistent exposure. The size balance supports both deep intrathoracic visualization and instrument passage alongside the retractor.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Thorax retractor (Coryllos pattern)
- Blade dimensions: 115 x 65 mm
- Overall length: 24 cm
- Intended use: Thoracic cavity exposure during open procedures
- Construction: Reusable surgical instrument
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance and durability under repeated sterilization cycles. Reusable design supports decontamination and autoclave processing used in hospital sterile processing departments. The plate-like blade minimizes tissue bite and permits controlled distribution of retraction force.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
