Clinical Application
Designed for direct visualization and access to the anal canal and distal rectum, this Kelly proctoscope facilitates diagnostic proctoscopy and minor therapeutic procedures in office, clinic, or ambulatory surgery settings. It is commonly used for inspection of hemorrhoids, mucosal lesions, fissures, and for targeted biopsy, foreign body removal, topical medication delivery, and simple hemostatic maneuvers.
Design & Configuration
The rigid tubular geometry provides a stable working channel and direct line-of-sight to the distal rectum. The 22 mm diameter balances patient comfort with sufficient lumen for instrument passage; the 100 mm length reaches the distal rectum without excess shaft length. An open distal end allows passage of biopsy forceps, suction, or topical applicators while the flared proximal rim provides a secure seating point and an external reference for depth. The straightforward design simplifies insertion, visualization, and instrument exchange during brief procedures.
