Clinical Application
This short rigid proctoscope is intended for direct visualization and access to the anal canal and distal rectum. It is commonly used in outpatient clinics, endoscopy suites and operating rooms for diagnostic proctoscopy/anoscopy, targeted mucosal biopsy, evaluation and treatment planning for hemorrhoids and other anorectal pathology, foreign-body assessment, and minor instrumentation or debridement within the visualized segment.
Design & Configuration
The short tubular geometry provides a direct line-of-sight into the distal rectum while minimizing insertion depth to reduce patient discomfort. A 21 mm diameter balances working lumen size with tolerability in most adult patients; the 50 mm working length covers the anal canal and immediate rectal vault for most diagnostic and minor therapeutic needs. The rigid construction maintains lumen patency for instrument passage and suction, and a defined proximal flange facilitates depth control during procedures.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Proctoscope (rigid)
- Pattern / model: Kelly
- Size: 21 x 50 mm
- Configuration: Short tubular speculum providing a single unobstructed working channel
- Typical use: Diagnostic proctoscopy/anoscopy, mucosal biopsy, minor anorectal procedures
- Material / construction: Stainless steel, reusable
Material & Construction
Constructed from corrosion-resistant stainless steel with a smooth, polished lumen to optimize visualization and reduce tissue adhesion. Durable reusable construction allows standard reprocessing and sterilization between cases; compatible with typical heat sterilization cycles used for stainless-steel rigid instruments.
Quality & Compliance
