Clinical Application
Designed for direct inspection of the anal canal and distal rectum, this anoscope is intended primarily for diagnostic anoscopy and minor procedural work. It facilitates visualization of hemorrhoids, fissures, mucosal lesions and postsurgical sites, and provides a working lumen for targeted biopsy, topical therapy delivery, suture placement or removal of small foreign bodies under direct vision. The 19 mm diameter provides a balance between patient comfort and a working channel adequate for common anoscopic instruments.
Design & Configuration
The rigid cylindrical design provides a stable, unobstructed viewing port to the anal verge and distal rectum. The straight tubular geometry maintains lumen patency and permits passage of biopsy forceps, snares and other minor instruments while minimizing collapse or distortion of the canal. A smooth, atraumatic distal edge reduces mucosal trauma during insertion and withdrawal. The instrument is used with standard external illumination (headlight or operative lamp) and allows the clinician to perform inspection and targeted interventions with both hands free for instrument manipulation.
