Clinical Application
This probe is designed for atraumatic exploration and delineation of wounds, sinus tracts, fistulae and other confined channels. The terminal eyelet allows the probe to be used both to assess tract length and direction and to pass a suture, ligature, or small guide through the tract for subsequent drainage, closure, or instrument guidance. Common applications include general surgery, wound care, ENT procedures, minor operative procedures and bedside probing of chronic tracts.
Design & Configuration
The terminal 2 mm eyelet provides a secure aperture for threading suture or a guide wire without enlarging the tract. The 18 cm working length permits access to deeper sinus tracts and cavities while preserving tactile feedback to the operator. A smooth plated surface reduces friction during insertion and withdrawal, helping minimize additional tissue trauma during probing and instrument passage.
