Clinical Application
This double-ended buttoned probe is intended for atraumatic exploration, probing, and tract passage in confined lumens. The 1 mm button profile provides a blunt, rounded terminus that reduces the risk of perforation or snagging of delicate mucosal surfaces. It is commonly used in procedures that require controlled tactile feedback and gentle dilation or guidance—for example, lacrimal system probing, small sinus or fistula exploration, and other soft-tissue canal probing in ophthalmic and ENT cases.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended configuration offers two usable working tips on a single shaft, allowing the surgeon to quickly reverse ends without changing instruments. The buttoned tip geometry distributes contact force over a small rounded surface rather than a sharp point, improving safety when negotiating narrow or fragile channels. At 16 cm overall length the shaft provides sufficient reach for typical lacrimal, nasal and minor soft-tissue applications while preserving tactile sensitivity for precise maneuvering.
