Clinical Application
This buttoned, double-ended probe is intended for atraumatic exploration and probing of tracts, sinuses, wound cavities, and small lumens. The smooth, rounded "buttoned" tip minimizes tissue snagging and penetration, making it suitable for use during wound assessment, fistula probing, abscess exploration, and delicate tissue dissection in general surgery, ENT, plastic/reconstructive procedures, and ambulatory wound-care settings. It also assists in identifying and dilating small channels prior to passing drains or sutures.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended (D/E) layout provides immediate access to an alternate working end without changing instruments, improving procedural efficiency and orientation in confined fields. The buttoned tip design distributes contact pressure over a rounded surface to reduce focal trauma and prevent inadvertent penetration of delicate tissues. A 14 cm shaft length offers reach into deeper wounds and cavities while maintaining tactile feedback for the operator.
