Clinical Application
This probe is intended for controlled exploration and localization of tissue tracts, fistulae, ducts and small cavities. The 2 mm myrtle leaf tip provides a broad, atraumatic contact surface useful for assessing patency, delineating tract direction, and gently dilating soft tissue during procedures in otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral/maxillofacial, and general surgical settings. It is also suitable for intraoperative tactile assessment and for guiding sutures or small instruments through narrow passages.
Design & Configuration
The narrow 13 cm shaft offers reach for shallow-to-moderate depth cavities while maintaining tactile feedback. The myrtle leaf–shaped tip distributes contact force over a slightly broader surface than a sharp probe point, reducing the risk of tissue perforation and providing stable contact when tracing a tract or checking lumen patency. A smooth, polished shaft facilitates atraumatic passage and ease of cleaning between uses.
