Clinical Application
The myrtle leaf probe is designed for atraumatic probing and tactile exploration of narrow lumens, sinus tracts, fistulous channels and surgical pockets. Its broad leaf‑shaped tip is used to locate and gently dilate ductal openings or soft tissue channels while minimizing tissue shear. Common applications include intraoperative assessment of sinus and fistula paths, lacrimal and ductal probing, ENT and head & neck procedures, and general surgical exploration where controlled blunt probing is required.
Design & Configuration
The leaf‑shaped tip geometry distributes contact force across a wider surface than a sharp probe tip, reducing focal pressure and the risk of tissue perforation. The 2 mm tip diameter offers controlled, incremental dilation while preserving tactile feedback through the shaft. The 10.5 cm overall length provides reach into superficial to moderately deep channels while maintaining maneuverability in confined operative fields. A slim, smooth shaft facilitates passage through narrow openings and allows the surgeon to palpate and follow the course of a tract accurately.
