Clinical Application

This combined grooved director and tongue-tie instrument is intended for minor oral and ENT procedures where controlled guidance of a blade or probe and secure retraction or ligation of the tongue are required. Common uses include frenotomy/frenectomy, neonatal and pediatric tongue-tie release, controlled submucosal dissection and placement of sutures or ligatures beneath soft tissue. The grooved blade protects underlying structures while directing a scalpel or probe along a planned line, and the tongue-tie end provides a simple means to retract, elevate or pass a ligature around the frenulum.

Design & Configuration

The dual-ended layout combines a grooved director tip and a tongue-tie/retraction feature in one hand-held instrument to reduce instrument exchanges during short procedures. The grooved blade creates a defined channel that guides a scalpel or probe and helps shield deeper tissue from inadvertent injury. The tongue-tie end is configured to assist secure retraction or to facilitate passing and tying sutures around the frenulum without additional retractors. The overall geometry supports fine control in confined oral anatomy and is sized to suit infant through adult minor procedures.
