Clinical Application
Designed to assist surgeons during open vascular endarterectomy procedures, this instrument is used to develop and maintain the dissection plane between an atheromatous plaque and the arterial media. It facilitates controlled mobilization and stripping of plaque segments in carotid and peripheral arterial endarterectomies, allowing plaque to be freed for atraumatic extraction with forceps or clamps. It is intended for use within standard vascular instrument sets alongside vascular clamps, dissectors, and fine forceps.
Design & Configuration
The slender, spatula-like shaft terminates in an atraumatic blunt tip to separate plaque from the arterial wall with reduced risk of tearing the media or adventitia. The flat profile and tapered leading edge permit smooth advancement along the dissection plane, while the handle geometry provides tactile feedback and control during delicate mobilization. Straight and gently contoured profiles are commonly used to accommodate different surgical exposures and vessel orientations.

Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel for durability and repeated sterilization. The single-piece shaft-to-tip design minimizes crevices and allows thorough cleaning and autoclave sterilization between uses. Finish and edge geometry are optimized to perform atraumatic plaque mobilization while resisting corrosion.
Quality & Compliance
