Clinical Application

This instrument is intended to facilitate controlled separation and removal of atherosclerotic plaque and the diseased intimal layer during carotid and peripheral endarterectomy procedures. It is used after arteriotomy and initial plaque mobilization to gently strip the intima away from the arterial media along the plane of cleavage, helping achieve a smooth endothelial surface and restore luminal patency. Proper technique with an atraumatic stripper minimizes arterial wall injury and reduces the risk of intimal flaps, vessel perforation, or distal embolization.
