Clinical Application
This speculum is designed to provide a stable, atraumatic access port to the external auditory canal for diagnostic inspection and minor aural procedures. It is intended for use with manual or head-mounted illumination and operative microscopes to improve visualization during otologic examination, cerumen removal, suctioning, foreign body extraction and other ENT procedures that require a clear working channel.
Design & Configuration
The Zoellner configuration features a flared funnel-shaped tip that centers and gently opens the canal to permit direct line-of-sight visualization and instrument passage. The Fig.5 size with a 9.5x10.5 mm aperture balances a wide working field with a controlled, atraumatic profile; selection of the correct speculum size helps minimize patient discomfort and improves access for suction and extraction tools. The B/F designation identifies the manufacturer s pattern and sizing variant for consistent ordering and replacement.
