Clinical Application
Designed to provide atraumatic access and direct visualization of the external auditory canal and tympanic membrane, this speculum is used in diagnostic and procedural otology. It supports routine ear examinations, microlaryngoscopic or microscopic procedures involving suction, cerumen removal, foreign-body retrieval and introduction of small instrumentation or irrigation devices. The 7.5 x 8.5 mm aperture balances visualization with a working channel large enough for common ENT instruments.
Design & Configuration
The Zoellner pattern offers a tapered, conical lumen that centers and stabilizes the view of the canal while permitting instrument passage. The Fig.3 (B/F) configuration identifies a specific aperture geometry and working diameter (7.5 x 8.5 mm), providing a wider field than smaller specula and improving access for suction tips and micro-instruments. Smooth, atraumatic edges and a precision-machined rim help minimize canal trauma while maintaining a secure seating during procedures.
