Clinical Application
This speculum provides atraumatic access to the external auditory canal for diagnostic inspection and minor procedural work. Its tapered aperture and low-profile flared tip facilitate direct visualization with an otoscope, operating microscope, or endoscope, and it supports controlled cerumen removal and microsuction during clinic- and OR-level ear procedures.
Design & Configuration
The conical, funnel-shaped tip directs the line of sight into the canal while minimizing soft-tissue contact at the canal entrance. The 5.5x6.5 mm sizing provides a narrow profile suited for tighter canals or for procedures requiring a smaller working aperture. The B/F configuration (Fig. 1) is a manufacturer-designated geometry that determines seating and orientation on otoscopic or hand-held instruments, supporting secure placement and stable visualization during manipulation.
