Clinical Application

Designed for otolaryngology procedures that require direct access to the Eustachian tube via the nasopharynx. This catheter is used to cannulate the Eustachian orifice to allow controlled insufflation of air, delivery of topical medication, diagnostic access to middle ear function, or gentle lavage. It is appropriate for use during clinic-based interventions and in the operating room for management of eustachian tube dysfunction, recurrent middle ear effusion, or as an adjunct to tympanostomy procedures.

Design & Configuration

The instrument features a rigid single-lumen shaft with a purpose-designed distal curvature (Fig.3) that aligns with the anatomical trajectory of the Eustachian tube from the nasopharynx. The angled, atraumatic tip reduces mucosal trauma and facilitates seatable engagement at the tubal orifice, improving control during insufflation or instillation. The rigid construction provides tactile feedback and precision during transnasal insertion, while the smooth exterior simplifies passage and minimizes patient discomfort.
