Clinical Application

This Hartmann ear speculum is intended to provide direct, unobstructed access to the external auditory canal for diagnostic inspection and minor in‑office otologic procedures. The 5.0 mm diameter Fig.2 sizing is selected to balance canal visualization with patient comfort, making it suitable for routine otoscopic examination, microsuction, foreign-body removal, and procedures performed under a surgical microscope.

Design & Configuration

The Hartmann conical, flared geometry creates a wide viewing aperture at the distal end while tapering toward the external opening to help center the canal and maintain a working channel. This shape facilitates coaxial visualization through a microscope or handheld optics and permits introduction of small suction tips and instruments without obstructing the field. The Fig.2 mid-size profile is intended to stabilize and slightly dilate the canal during inspection, reducing soft-tissue collapse and improving access for targeted interventions.
