Clinical Application
Designed to provide atraumatic access and direct visualization of the external auditory canal during diagnostic otoscopy and minor in‑office procedures. The small 4.0 mm distal aperture is useful when visualizing narrower canals and when passing suction tips or fine instruments for cerumen removal, irrigation, foreign body retrieval, or targeted inspection of the tympanic membrane.
Design & Configuration
The conical, tapered funnel geometry centers illumination and the optical axis while creating a controlled working channel for instrumentation. A flared proximal rim stabilizes the speculum at the canal entrance and helps maintain an adequate field of view without excessive canal traction. Smooth, rounded edges at the distal aperture reduce the risk of soft tissue trauma during insertion and manipulation.
