Clinical Application

Provides controlled irrigation and aspiration of the external auditory canal in otology and general ENT practice. Commonly used for cerumen removal, lavage to clear debris or discharge, and delivery or removal of topical solutions during in‑office procedures, minor operative cases, and outpatient clinics. Prior to irrigation, confirm integrity of the tympanic membrane; avoid pressurized irrigation when perforation or middle ear pathology is suspected.

Design & Configuration

The Hartmann Fig.2 SP pattern features a compact, angled profile intended to follow the curvature of the external auditory canal while minimizing contact with canal walls. The rigid construction transmits tactile feedback to the operator for controlled fluid delivery and aspiration. A tapered, smooth distal opening directs flow and helps reduce trauma to the canal lining during lavage. The straightforward geometry supports one‑handed handling during in‑office irrigation and suction tasks.
