Clinical Application
Designed for otologic and general ENT use, this instrument provides two complementary functions for bedside and operative ear care. The spoon end is used to scoop and lift impacted cerumen or soft debris from the external auditory canal under direct visualization (otoscopy or microscope). The hook end permits controlled engagement and extraction of small foreign bodies, packing, or adherent tissue. Its length and slim profile make it suitable for clinic procedures, minor-office interventions, and as part of an operating-room ear instrument tray.
Design & Configuration
The double-ended configuration places a scoop-shaped spoon on one tip and a fine retrieval hook on the opposite tip, allowing clinicians to switch between scooping and hooking motions without changing instruments. The scoop geometry facilitates capture and lateral removal of debris, while the hook gives precise purchase on small objects or material lodged against the canal wall. A 12 cm shaft provides sufficient reach while maintaining tactile control and visual access during otoscopic or microscopic procedures.
