Clinical Application

Designed to retrieve small foreign bodies from the external auditory canal, this loop instrument provides controlled, atraumatic extraction for use in ENT clinics, emergency departments, pediatric settings, and minor-procedure suites. The loop tip is effective for engaging beads, insects, cotton, small plastic fragments and compacted cerumen that can be encircled or scooped without applying focal pressure to the canal wall. Use under direct visualization with an otoscope, headlight, or microscope to minimize contact with the tympanic membrane and to ensure safe removal.

Design & Configuration

The instrument's looped scoop tip is configured to encircle or cradle lodged items, allowing the operator to withdraw foreign material with minimal shear against canal skin. The Fig.2 pattern denotes a commonly used loop profile with a low-profile head for access in narrow canals and improved visibility under magnification.
