Clinical Application
Used to deliver a controlled stream of irrigation fluid into the external auditory canal for removal of cerumen, foreign material, or topical medication. Commonly used in ENT clinics, audiology practices, primary care and outpatient procedure areas for office-based ear irrigations. Helps dislodge and flush softened cerumen while minimizing contact between rigid instruments and the canal wall.
Not recommended when a tympanic membrane perforation is known or suspected, in cases of acute otitis externa with severe pain, or when a patient is noncompliant with positioning required for safe irrigation. Clinical staff should follow established protocols for patient selection, irrigation pressure, and post-procedure assessment.
Design & Configuration
The flexible, single-lumen geometry allows gentle conformability within the curvature of the external auditory canal, reducing focal pressure on the canal wall and improving patient comfort. A tapered, smooth-bore tip directs fluid flow to loosen and mobilize cerumen rather than abrade the canal, and the flexibility of the tubing aids controlled directional irrigation during bedside procedures. The tubing is sized to provide adequate flow while maintaining clinician control of irrigation force when attached to a manual syringe or irrigation handle.
Instrument Specifications
- Single-lumen flexible irrigation tube
- Designed for attachment to manual ear syringe or irrigation handle
- Tapered, smooth-bore tip to direct fluid flow
- Intended use: ear canal irrigation for cerumen and debris removal
- Medical-grade flexible polymer construction
- Reusable; suitable for reprocessing per facility protocols
Material & Construction
Constructed from medical-grade flexible polymer engineered to maintain lumen patency while flexing to the canal anatomy. Smooth internal surface minimizes debris retention and eases cleaning. The soft, compliant tubing minimizes trauma during manipulation and provides reliable fluid delivery when connected to a manual irrigation device.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
