Clinical Application
This curved blunt curette is intended for controlled removal of cerumen, epithelial debris, and small soft foreign bodies from the external auditory canal and conchal bowl. The blunt tip reduces the risk of traumatic penetration of the canal skin and tympanic membrane when used under direct visualization (otoscopy). It is suitable for use in ENT clinics, primary care, ambulatory surgery centers, and procedural suites for routine aural debridement and irrigation adjuncts.
Design & Configuration
The curved geometry follows the anatomic contour of the external auditory canal, allowing the operator to approach the lateral and medial canal walls with improved angulation and visibility. The blunt, scoop-style tip permits atraumatic engagement of soft debris and cerumen while minimizing sharp contact with the canal epithelium. At 16.5 cm overall length the shaft offers adequate reach and controlled handling for precision maneuvers while maintaining ergonomic balance for single-handed use.
