Clinical Application
Obstetrical forceps used to assist vaginal delivery by providing controlled grip, traction and—when indicated—rotational control of the fetal head. Employed in operative vaginal births for maternal indications (for example, prolonged second stage or maternal exhaustion) or fetal indications (nonreassuring fetal status) when proper station, maternal pelvic adequacy and clinical conditions are met. Use requires trained obstetric personnel and adherence to local clinical guidelines for operative vaginal delivery.
Design & Configuration
The two‑blade, opposing handle design with an articulated lock provides symmetric, controllable engagement of the fetal head and allows coordinated traction and limited rotation. A 40 cm overall length balances reach and mechanical advantage: sufficient shank length to work effectively in the birth canal while maintaining tactile feedback for the operator. The geometry of the blades and shanks is intended to distribute pressure across the fetal head to minimize focal compression when used correctly.
