Clinical Application
Designed for delicate cortical and subcortical retraction during cranial procedures, this Scoville-pattern brain spatula provides atraumatic exposure for tumor resections, hematoma evacuations, microdissection, and other intracranial work. The two blade-width options allow the surgeon to select a narrower or wider retraction footprint quickly, minimizing instrument exchanges in confined operative corridors and deep exposures.
Design & Configuration
The dual-ended configuration places two flat blade profiles on a single shaft so the operator can flip between a 10 mm and a 13 mm blade without changing instruments. Flat, broad blades distribute retraction forces over a larger surface area to reduce focal pressure on cortical tissue. The 200 mm length provides additional reach for deeper approaches while keeping the handle accessible to the surgeon. Smooth, atraumatic blade edges are intended to reduce tissue shear during manipulation.
