Clinical Application
This angled pituitary curette is intended to provide controlled scooping and debridement of soft tissue during transsphenoidal pituitary surgery and other endonasal or skull-base procedures. The 45° orientation facilitates access to the sella turcica, lateral recesses, and inferior margins of lesions when working through narrow nasal corridors or endoscopic ports. It is used to core, elevate, or remove small fragments of adenoma, granulation tissue, or other soft tissue masses while preserving tactile feedback for the surgeon.
Design & Configuration
The 45° angled shaft geometry improves line-of-sight and instrument-to-tissue approach in confined corridors, allowing the tip to engage tissue perpendicular to the operative plane without excessive shaft manipulation. The rounded spoon/cup-shaped tip with a defined cutting rim enables controlled scooping and circumferential engagement of soft tissue while minimizing propensity to snag adjacent mucosa. A slim profile provides reach into the sella and sphenoid sinus during both microscopic and endoscopic techniques.
Instrument Specifications
- Instrument type: Pituitary curette (surgical curette)
- Pattern / model: Ray
- Configuration: 45° angled shaft for endonasal/skull-base access
- Tip / jaw pattern: Rounded spoon/cup-shaped pituitary tip with cutting rim
- Typical surgical use: Debulking and removal of soft tissue during transsphenoidal and endonasal procedures
- Material / construction: Surgical-grade stainless steel
- Reusable: Suitable for repeated clinical use and standard sterilization
Material & Construction
Constructed from surgical-grade stainless steel to provide durability, corrosion resistance, and reliable tactile feedback. The one-piece tip geometry maintains a smooth profile to reduce tissue drag while allowing efficient scooping and controlled cutting at the rim. Designed for repeated clinical use and compatibility with standard decontamination and sterilization workflows.
Quality & Compliance
Manufactured by FDA-registered OEM facilities and produced under strict quality control standards.
Brand Comparison
Comparable in form and function to equivalent instruments offered by major US medical suppliers.
